Vikalink vs international hosts, for Ghana
Thinking about GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, Bluehost, HostGator, Wix or WordPress.com? Here is what to compare when your business and customers are in Ghana.
What matters for a Ghana website
Every host looks good on its own pricing page. For a business in Ghana, the differences that matter day to day are these:
| What to check | Vikalink | Ask any other host |
|---|---|---|
| Price currency | Prices in Ghana cedis (GH₵) | Which currency is the checkout in, and what is the renewal price? |
| .com.gh domains | Register .com.gh, .com and more | Can you register and renew .com.gh with them? |
| Local support | Based in Kumasi, Ghana, phone +233 59 470 9323 | Support hours in Ghana time, and is there a phone line? |
| WordPress hosting | WordPress hosting plans available | Is WordPress included, and are backups part of the plan? |
| One dashboard | Domains, hosting, invoices and tickets together | Are domain and hosting managed in the same place? |
| Renewal price | Shown in the store before you order | Is the renewal price higher than the first-year price? |
We describe only Vikalink here. Plans and prices at other providers change, so confirm their details on their own websites before you decide.
Vikalink vs GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, Bluehost and HostGator
These are large international providers. If you are comparing one of them with Vikalink, use the table above and check these on the provider's own site:
- GoDaddy: check the checkout currency, the renewal price, support hours and .com.gh availability on their own website.
- Namecheap: check the checkout currency, the renewal price, support hours and .com.gh availability on their own website.
- Hostinger: check the checkout currency, the renewal price, support hours and .com.gh availability on their own website.
- Bluehost: check the checkout currency, the renewal price, support hours and .com.gh availability on their own website.
- HostGator: check the checkout currency, the renewal price, support hours and .com.gh availability on their own website.
Wix and WordPress.com vs web hosting
Wix and WordPress.com are website platforms. You build and host the site inside their system. Web hosting, like Vikalink's, gives you server space where you install your own site, for example with WordPress, and keep full control of your files and email.
- Choose a website platform if you want a simple site and do not need to move it later.
- Choose web hosting if you want to own the site, use your own WordPress plugins, or run several sites.
If your domain is registered with a platform and you want it with your hosting, see how to transfer a domain to Vikalink.
